Booking your ticket with megabus is quick and easy, and you can do it in just a few simple steps. 

1. Go to the megabus website 

Visit the megabus website or megabus app where you’ll find the journey search. From here, you can start planning your trip straight away. 

2. Enter your journey details 

Choose: 

  • The type of ticket(s) you want to book (single, return)
  • Where you're travelling from
  • Where you're travelling to
  • The date you want to travel and return date if needed
  • The number of passengers and the type of passenger they are (adult, child or National Entitlement Card holder) 
  • If you need to book the on-board wheelchair space, you'll do this here. 

Once entered, click Search to see available services and fares for your chosen journey.  

3. Choose your service and fare 

You’ll be shown a list of available journeys, including departure times and ticket prices. We will automatically display the best available fare, including any discounts or capped fares where applicable. Select the service that suits you best to continue.  

4. Add extras (optional) 

During booking, you can add optional extras such as: 

  • Seat reservations (on selected routes, additional fee applies) 
  • Additional luggage 
  • Bicycle space (Scotland only)

These options are shown during checkout so you can customise your journey to your needs.  

5. Log in or continue as a guest 

You can: 

  • Log into your MyMegabus account to manage tickets easily later, or 

  • Continue as a guest if you prefer 

Creating an account makes it easier to access, amend, or store your tickets for future travel. 

6. Confirm details and make payment 

Check your journey details carefully, then proceed to payment. Once payment is complete, your ticket will be sent to you by email or text. If you booked in the app, select 'add to wallet' to add your tickets to your device digital wallet for even quicker access!

7. Travel with confidence 

Your ticket includes a QR code, which you simply show to the driver when boarding. You can display it on your phone, email, or as a printed copy.
